SynerFuse™ Announces Leadership Additions

MINNEAPOLIS – April 27, 2021 – Justin Zenanko, CEO of SynerFuse™, a Minneapolis based developer of a novel implantable neurostimulator to treat chronic low-back pain without the use of addictive opioids, today announced the addition of Jeannine Rivet as strategic advisor and Dr. Erika Petersen as a board member. “We have attracted additional leadership talent because what we are doing holds such extraordinary promise, and people want to be a part of it,” said Zenanko. “Jeannine Rivet and Erika Petersen are bringing a depth of knowledge and breadth of expertise to SynerFuse™ that will help us to move with the appropriate speed to bring an innovative solution to people in pain.”

Jeannine Rivet, MPH, BSN, RN, FAAN, is a former executive vice president at UnitedHealth Group. At UnitedHealth, she worked with and on behalf of all business segments in areas focused on strategic business relationships, clinician advancement, culture, and social responsibility. Previous roles at UnitedHealth Group include CEO of UnitedHealthcare, CEO of Ingenix and CEO of Optum. Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare Corporation, Rivet held various other managed care and nursing positions. She is on numerous business boards and advisory councils. She has been recognized by AAHP, Boston University School of Public Health, Fortune magazine, Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys, Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal, Minnesota’s City Business, Minnesota Women’s Health Leadership TRUST, Twin Cities Business magazine, Linkage, the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and the American Heart Association – Twin Cities. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.

Erika Petersen, MD, FAANS, FACS, directs the Section of Functional and Restorative Neurosurgery at University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) Medical Center. She is a professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at UAMS and program director for the neurosurgery residency. Petersen is a board-certified neurosurgeon whose clinical practice focuses on neuromodulation, treating movement disorders, spasticity, and chronic pain through surgical procedures and stereotactic radiosurgery. Her research interests focus on developing new devices, indications, and methods for treating chronic pain using neuromodulation. Petersen has served on the Joint Section on Pain of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS)/Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and the CNS Scientific Programming Committee and sits on the Executive Board of the American Society of Pain and Neuroscience, where she is secretary. She serves as associate editor of stereotactic and functional neurosurgery for Operative Neurosurgery and Section Head Editor for Journal of Pain Research. She is on the editorial board of Neuromodulation and contributes as a reviewer for several other journals
